Film Opening Complete

Reykjavik

This is it. The film opening completed. Its called Reykjavik because it turns out that 1.8% of people in Iceland have a fear of water and I felt that it was a fitting title for the film opening. Hope you enjoy.

Coming to an End

So the end of this journey is finally approaching. I'm glad to say that I've enjoyed working on this project for the past couple of weeks. I started with an idea of what I wanted at the beginning and have now transformed that into what is almost a complete film opening. During the creation of my film opening, I've learned to appreciate all the different elements that go into a film piece and what it takes to make a film opening that works well.
I am near the end of my editing with the film opening and am close to putting an end to the project completely. I've been able to incorporate the reshoots that I did into my opening and am almost ready to release the final product. With the way the film opening has turned out, I'm glad that I had the opportunity to work on it and bring my idea to life. This project has been eye-opening into what creating a film piece requires and it has been a pleasure to be apart of it.

Reshoots

During the editing process, I decided that I wanted to reshoot some scenes that I thought could be done better. I also reshot some scenes that didn't look good. This has delayed me in the process of finishing the film opening since I had to go back to film instead of finalizing the editing of my production. I think that reshooting these scenes was beneficial to my film opening and has definitely caused it to improve. I've incorporated some of the reshot scenes into my film and so far they have proved to definitely be an enhancement from the scenes that were in their place before.
The reshoots that I did today have turned out to be very helpful. They have allowed my film opening the chance to look better than it would have before and I have already seen the improvement in the parts that I've been able to edit. A reason for the reshoots was that while I was editing, I was able to determine what was lacking in my opening and what needed to be done better. The things that weren't working before I was able to correct. Reshoots gave me the opportunity to reflect on where I was during the creation of my film opening. I think that doing the reshoots was the right decision for the development of my film opening.

Coming Together

So the film opening is finally coming together. I have been editing with the complete footage and have been able to create a rough cut of the film opening. It still needs some work and time put into it to be able to make it viewable but I feel that it may all be complete within the next few days. I've been arranging scenes in a variety of ways during the editing process to see how the film opening flows and what helps it function. I have also been observing my footage to see where I can insert sound effects or music. I don't want to complete my editing all at once since one can become desensitized to the material after viewing repeatedly for a long time. I instead want to finish most of the editing soon and then be able to revisit in the next couple of days to work on the opening with a fresh perspective.
As I've been editing, I have also noticed that some things didn't turn out as I expected them to. I have seen that some scenes don't exactly look how I want them to and others seem to look out of place. I've been thinking that I may have to reshoot some scenes before I finalize the film opening. Many films have gone through reshoots such as Rocky and Ratatouille and it has proved to be beneficial for them.

Filming Day

Today was a day that was dedicated to filming. I was able to film the rest of my scenes and got all the footage that I needed to be able to complete my film opening. While filming, I did not run into any major issues and the inconveniences that did occur were minor. I shot several scenes and not all of them will make the final cut because I realized that the amount of footage that I have exceeds more than two minutes. The next couple of days will be decisive in what I use in my film opening and what I will choose to leave out.
Due the quantity of footage that I have amounted, I will have to cut some scenes out but still have to make the opening flow. I noticed that the idea that I have for the rest of my opening can be constructed in several ways and still be able work. The cutting of scenes will not cause problems in the storyline of my film opening. I will still be able to tell the story that way that I planned even though I will have to restrain myself from using certain scenes. Within the next couple of days I will see how the final product is turning out and determine if any changes need to be made.

Sound

So I've been thinking about what is going to give my film opening a feeling of weariness and figured that sound is going to play a large factor in it. The sound or music that I'm going to have to use is going to be royalty free since I do not have the rights to use any sound that isn't royalty free in my production. The problem with this is being able to find royalty free sound that is of good quality so that I can actually use it in my film opening.
I've been looking for places in which I can get access to royalty free music and have come across a couple of places which I think could aid me in the production of my film opening. According to Vidooly, Youtube Audio Library is a good choice for finding royalty free sound since they have a large variety of sound effects and music. Other good options that would be beneficial to go to would be Epidemic Sound and Free Stock Music. They both have hundreds of sounds and music tracks which I can choose from to incorporate into my film opening and they have several formats available to retrieve the sound that I want including MP3, WAV, and AIFF. These are sites that I will go to when obtaining sound or music that I may need for my film opening.
